The Guy Behind the Blog

Don't let the silence around here fool you...thanks to Bonnie's annual Sheenazing Awards, I have been reading blogs like a madwoman for the last few weeks.  I fell into the habit of checking out the list of nominees, and now I feel like I just might miss my next virtual BFF if I don't make it through the entire list.  With abuncha categories and abuncha great nominees, this task is taking for-freakin-ever.

But see, today I came across something that just might kick me out of this rut, and voila, it might all be worth it.  Without further ado, I present to you...The Guy Behind the Blog.

Obviously, Alex has made appearances here on the blog quite a few times, and he's even featured on the About page.  Other than that, it's been radio silence from the Mister.  When I came across this link-up, I became super excited about the possibility of letting him take over every once in a while.  So here's Round One for you!

Introduce yourself!
Legen.....wait for it.... dary! Legendary!  Why not start out with a quote from a show that my wife despised but she is glad the show is now off the air (How I Met Your Mother)?  I work in athletic media relations where I serve as the media contact for football and baseball.  You know the guy that coordinates interviews, monitors Twitter to make sure athletes are posting craziness and serving as the official scorer for baseball (the guy who rules Hit or Error and gets booed no matter the call).  So aside from being called an SID, I am @Geaux_Lauren's better half.  :)

What do you think about my blog and What do I blog about?
I like your blog and your desire to blog about things that matter or just life in general.

What is your favorite post I’ve written?
Hmmm... That is a tough one. I guess anytime that there is a blog that talks about me as it means I am on the good list and haven't done anything recently to deserve a face palm.

Have you ever had a blog or have you ever considered starting one?
I have considered it, but since I write for a living, the thought of writing more than I have to, meh, I'll pass.

If you could be a member of any band, which one would it be?
The guitar hero band... That is the only band where I can be off and no one will know!

Valentine’s Day is on the horizon…are you the date-planner type or do you fly by the seat of your pants?
Date-Planner, clearly! The wife will tell you that I am all about plans, I don't like not knowing a plan, haha.

Tell us about a date-night-gone-wrong for you and your wife.
HAHAHAHA, just go back to one of Lauren's 2011 blog and you can read all about it. #OurFirstDate (He's actually referring to this post.)

And let’s cover all the topics…sports…who are you rooting for in the Superbowl and why?
I am rooting for hilarious commercials... I don't like the Seahawks b/c of Lynch and his lack of interest in talking to the media; no athlete really likes talking to the media, but it comes with the territory and he is the only one that seems to take issue with it. Meanwhile, the Patriots have won several Super Bowls over the year, so they have won their share, but I suppose I don't want a repeat winner (Seattle won it last year). Also I am not a Katy Perry fan so I won't watch the halftime show... I guess after writing all of this, the wife may not let me watch the game, so be sure to ask her in the future if I "got" to watch Super Bowl 49 or not.

There you have it, folks!  Hopefully you enjoyed this little guest post courtesy of "Mister Alex."  If you're a collegiate sports fan, you're welcome to follow him on Twitter via @ABEdwards1.  In the mean time, I'm going to tackle another post for next week, while your favorite SID enjoys poker night with the guys.

TGIF.

Monday Musings

I'm taking a page out of Kara's book today to bring you Monday Musings (okay, so hers was on Tuesday, but you get the point).

It's been almost two whole months since I've logged into Blogger.  For some reason I just couldn't bring myself to do it.  Tons of potential for writing, zero motivation to do it.

I suppose a huge part of it has to do with my whiney attitude that has officially set up shop here at Vail Drive.  I want to be happy with where we are in life - figuratively and literally.  But since that doesn't seem to be happening ANY-time soon....Monday Musings it is.

Let's pretend this post is as exhilarating as zip lining in Honduras.

= I should have sacrificed 30 minutes of One Tree Hill time this weekend for the sake of laundry.  I love laundry and all, but skipping a weekend really throws off my axis for the week.

= Speaking of OTH, we are just ONE SEASON (13 episodes) away from saying goodbye to characters that have come to feel like family over the last year. Whaaaat are we going to do with ourselves when they're gone??

= Can't a girl get a decent King Cake around here? Mardi Gras is 3 weeks away and I haven't had anything close to even a bite of KC, much less the real deal.

= Speaking of KC, note to self:  Don't resume "healthy" kicks until Lent next year...KC deprivation is no fun, no fun at all!

= Dear God, THANK YOU for the sunshine!!!  Please let it stick around foreverrrrrr (well...maybe with temperatures between 65-85* F, if you're feeling extra generous).

= Also, thanks for the forethought to sneak out early on this Monday (thanks to working extra hours on Sunday); it's the little things that get me through the workweek.

= Speaking of workweek, everyone's a buzz with rumors of furloughs and office closures.  Meanwhile, this girl is crossing her fingers... (HECK YES, CUT MY HOURS, FORGET THE PAY - HAPPY CAJ!!) ...Oh did I mention I live in Louisiana, where they're talking $380+ million cut to Higher Ed?

= Baseball season starts in a little over 2 weeks.  I have mixed feelings about that, considering Alex will be working every weekend through the end of May.

= I should probably stop now...the husband is sneaking out of work, and the sunshine (and the hyperactive outside dog) is calling our names.

= Could someone please give my arse a swift kick to get me out of this funk? It would be much appreciated.

That's all.
-Lauren

P.S.  I WILL be back to close out my "20 in 14" list, and hopefully to create one for 2015.  Don't let me give up, people!
